PQ Agricultural Grade Epsom Salt provides a soluble source of magnesium and sulfur for plants. Magnesium is a secondary macronutrient. Magnesium is the central atom of the chlorophyll molecule and is therefore important in photosynthesis. Magnesium is important in protein synthesis and enzyme processes, and it helps plants to absorb and use phosphorous and nitrogen.

Sulfur is a component of amino acids and proteins. It is important in plant metabolic functions and enzyme processes. Sulfur-containing components help regulate ion transport across biomembranes and are important in tolerance of plants to salt, drought and heat. Sulfur-containing components help to detoxify heavy metals in plants. A shortage of sulfur inhibits protein synthesis and decreases chlorophyll content in leaves.

PQ Agricultural Grade Epsom Salt can be applied dry to the soil, dissolved and used as a foliar spray, or dissolved in hydroponic nutrient solutions. It can be incorporated into fertilizer blends.

Agriculture professionals are recognizing that soluble silicates also can be beneficial in agriculture. The can reduce stress due to climate, minerals and disease. Potassium silicate is an excellent source of soluble silicate for plants and provides supplemental potassium, a plant macronutrient. PQ potassium silicates can be used in a foliar spray or applied to the soil.
